Domaining - Earning an Income by Domain Name InvestingDomaining or Domain Name Investing is big business, and one that should not be overlooked by any individual or internet marketer who is looking for an additional income, or even a full time profitable online business. For many, a domain name is simply a name that they type into a website browser to get to the website that they are looking for, or for webmasters, it is a name that hosts their website. With millions of websites online, many of the good domain names have been taken, and this can be frustrating for business owners, who are looking for a good, top level .com domain name for their new business website. It is these individuals who create a market for Domainers, who buy and sell domains, as these website owners are willing to pay a far higher price than the normal registration fee to get the very best domain name for their online business. Finding Good Expired Domain NamesSo how does a Domainer, acquire these names if most of the good ones have been taken? Good question, but one that’s not that difficult to answer. As I said earlier, there are millions of websites online, and millions of domain names registered. Thousands of these domain names are expiring daily, and there are approximately 30,000 of these names that are let expire by their owners daily. It is these Expired domain names that become the lifeblood of the Domainer. So why do there owners let these names expire? Well there could be many reasons but the main ones being that the company that owned the domain has ceased trading, or perhaps the webmaster may have registered a domain with the intention of developing a website which never materialised, or even in some cases the webmaster may simply forget to renew in the required time. There are several ways that, as a Domainer, you are able to acquire these domains names. There are several companies that monitor the domain market, and list all of the domains that are due to expire, and enable you to ‘backorder’ the domain before they becomes available to the open market. You do not have to pay for this service but if the register secures the domain for you their will be a charge usually $60.00-$80.00 including the cost of 1 years registration. If there are more than one individual trying to backorder the domain, you then are entered into an auction system, and are required to enter the maximum price that you are willing to pay for the expired domain. The process of backordering is not quick, it usually takes about 75 days from the expiry date of the domain, to the date of the domain being ‘dropped’ and available for registration. Finding Dropped Domain NamesAnother way of acquiring a good expired domain name is to pick up domains that have been already been dropped. These are domains that have previously expired, not been backordered and are now available for registration. There are several good websites and programs available for finding good dropped domains, and you may also find many of these domains offered on ebay. Finding and registering Expired Domain Names is not only beneficial to the Domainer who wants to resell for a profit, as they can be monetised by several other means. Many of expired or dropped have a history and in many cases have existing back links and sometimes page rank. A domain with back links will often have traffic, and it is the traffic that will enable you to earn an income from the existing traffic by Domain Parking. Domain ParkingParking is a service offered by most of the top domain registrars, who simply point your domain to a page that contains ads that are related to the domain name. The ads that are on the page are ‘paid for ads’ by advertisers looking for additional exposure for their business, and they pay on a ‘pay per click basis’ which means that every time a visitor clicks on their ad they pay an agreed amount. When your visitor, clicks on one of these ads you will earn a percentage of the amount they are paying for the click. One of the best parking facilities that we have found is ‘Whypark’. ‘Whypark’ charges a one off fee of $95.95 and adds 100’s of pages of targeted relevant articles to you domain name, plus you can have up to 100 domains parked for this price. The pages have been monetized with Google Adsense and unlike many of the parking services, allow you to keep 100% of the revenue generated from these ads. What’s more, if you own a domain name with Page Rank, you will be able to sell links off of the pages to generate an even further income. If you would like further information of how you can benefit from having a Whypark account follow the link below. |
